Look at top of photo & find black tank at top mid of photo. Due east of the tank there are 3 quonset huts with VERY TALL POLES! That is it. East MARS! Well, that is what my memory of 45 years ago tells me.

I received the following e-mail and photos from Matt Henderson about Cessna O-1G Birddog 51-12134 which served with the 504th/19th TASS at Bien Hoa AB. If anyone has any info about this aircraft please post a REPLAY using the link at bottom

Subject: Cessna O-1G Birddog 51-12134 504th/19th TASS Bien Hoa
My name is Matt Henderson and I’ve recently become the owner of ex-USAF Cessna O-1G Birddog 51-12134 which I understand served with the 504th/19th TASS at Bien Hoa.
This aircraft, along with a number of other O-1’s and A36’s was recovered from Vietnam in 1989 by a group of Australians. It was then purchased and painstakingly restored over 17 years by a good friend of mine Lindsay McKee who served with 2SQN RAAF in Vietnam as a RADTECH on Canberra bombers.
I came across your site while researching and I’m hoping to find photos of the aircraft, people who may have flown it, worked on it. Would you mind posting this information / request on your site in the hope that someone may assist.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I have attached a couple of recent photos of the aircraft as there may be folks interested in seeing where the aircraft ended up and that it’s still actively flying.
Well, the hackers from the UKRAINE are hard at work hacking this site at an even higher rate ( at a rate of 1,500/day). It is sad that the people of this age have NO morality or knowledge of right or wrong. It seems to show up more in the Godless communist/socialist countries of this world, with the Ukraine being a perfect example. Although it is creeping into all sectors of this worlds society. Sad day indeed. I expect in the near future they will be successful and take this site down. So, if this site disappears you will know the reason. Ukraine!
Added audio files which were recorded by James F. Gerritz for me in ’69 from Audio files which were on reel to reel tapes in the Audio Library of Bien Hoa AB. The names of the files are listed below. Available only to Members who Served at Bien Hoa AB!
Well, I have been busy working on Bien Hoa AB for FSX. I have added a recording of an actual ‘Rocket Attack’ recorded at Bien Hoa AB during my ‘Tour’. The audio has been placed and is emanating from the ‘Old Control Tower’ (where the rotating beacon was), due to lack of knowledge about where the actual siren was located (probably several locations) and it can be heard from anywhere on the base and surrounding areas. If anyone knows where the siren was located, let me know and I will move the siren to it’s proper location. The recording is set to go off on the ‘HOUR – 24hrs a day’, although I will probably change this as all of the rocket/mortar attacks during my tour (1 1/2yrs), were between midnight – dawn. Later I will add explosions that can be seen as a visual effect, which I will try to sync to the explosions heard in the audio. It is eerie to drive around the base in FSX day/night with no sounds but now it is even more so with the siren and explosions going off!
Presently I am adding, Helicopter, Skyraider, Jet, OV-10 and other sounds placed in the areas where those specific type of aircraft were parked/operating from on the Base. The sounds will be triggered on/off by approaching/departing the areas, such as driving around in a jeep. All of this adds realism to driving around Bien Hoa AB in FSX. Enough said, so back to work!
I have just discovered that the ‘sub menu items’ on the ‘top main menu bar’ are not working on Win8 Tablets! After some research I have yet to find a fix that will resolve this issue as the problem seems to be with Win8 and the Tablet touch screen. The Apple iPad does NOT have this problem! I have both an iPad and a Win8 Tablet now for testing the website for problems. Sorry for the inconvenience! As soon as a fix is available, if there will be a fix, that can be applied to the site, I will do so but as stated above the issue seems to be with Win8 on Tablets – Touch screens. I suspect that Microsoft will have to update its OS to resolve this issue.
I know that many of you have been hearing on the NEWS about ‘hackers’, like the ones that attacked SONY – Home Depot – Target ….. etc. Well, they are even attacking the little guys. If you have been following this site you have noticed changes made ‘due to hackers’. Well, here are a couple of ‘Pie Charts’ that show the Countries that have been attacking this site!
You will notice that 64% of the attacks to this site come from the ‘Ukraine’, France 16% & Russia 7% …… Also notice that this is a chart for just one DAY! The attacks vary form day to day. There are also some ‘hackers’ in the U.S., Canada and Great Britian! 1 in Henderson Nevada, 1 in Provo Utah,…….!
Just thought you would like to know what we are dealing with and who our enemies are!
